Haythem Zakaria

Haythem Zakaria was born in 1983. He lives and works in Paris.

He graduated from the Ecole d’Art et de Décoration de Tunis in 2008.

Haythem Zakaria is a transdisciplinary Tunisian artist. Inspired by cosmogony and spirituality, his work involves constant experimentation with the possible conjunction of different systems and disciplines (sociology, economics, ethnography, etc.).

Basing his aesthetic practice on a transdisciplinary approach, Haythem Zakaria uses a wide variety of tools and techniques. He explores new methods in an ongoing quest for archetypes through new technologies (interactive programming, installations, different types of sensors) but also with more traditional media (photographs, videos, drawings, sculptures).

Haythem Zakaria has exhibited his work in Tunisia and France, as well as in Belgium, the UK, Japan, Egypt and Morocco.

Since 2010, the artist has created a body of work in which art becomes an epistemological quest, where aesthetic concerns meet social, spiritual and philosophical issues.

In 2018, Haythem Zakaria won the Grand Prize at the Japan Media Arts Festival.
