Karim Ben Amor
Born in 1983 in Carthage (Tunisia). Lives and works in Tunis.
After studying architecture at the École Nationale d’Architecture in Tunis, Karim Ben Amor trained alongside professionals in Tunisian agencies (Tarak Ben Ammar, ARTEC, Mustapha Ben Jannet, etc.). He then went on to study for a post-graduate diploma (DEA) at the Belleville school in Paris and worked in the offices of the Chistidis Kanavakis agency, which specialises in rehabilitation projects.
His previous education, at the technical college in Tunis and his preparatory year for engineering schools, forged his sense of materials, detail and manual work. He particularly enjoys manipulating shapes and textures, working on how different materials can be articulated to create ensembles that challenge notions of space and balance.
Returning to Tunis in 2000, he managed a number of freelance projects, including residential and medical projects. Two years later, he and his wife, Emna Bouraoui, set up the Atelier13 agency, which is now up and running.
