\nThe idea for this project came from a disinterested reading of the wedding announcements that appeared every Sunday in La Presse de Tunisie. These seemingly innocuous announcements turn out to be full of meaning. They reveal the complexity of our society, and in particular the way in which couples form relationships. How do you describe the man or woman of your life in a few words? What are Tunisian men and women looking for in the opposite sex?
\nThe second installation, made from local newspapers, is an illustration of the Tunisian expression:<\/p>\n

This is a criticism of the press and its use of the langue de bois, these newspapers that bend to the orders of the regime and sometimes get ahead of it by censoring themselves.<\/p>\n

“Mohamed Ben Soltane (1977), de la complexit\u00e9 du Tunisien, est un t\u00e9moin aff\u00fbt\u00e9. (…)\u00a0 Effet Placebo, encore, t\u00e9moigne avec punch de cette inclination \u00e0 aller fouiller dans les recoins de l\u2019\u00e2me tunisienne bless\u00e9e et frustr\u00e9e. De la presse quotidienne tunisienne, celle, notamment des petites annonces, l\u2019artiste extrait une foultitude d\u2019annonces de mariage, banales de prime abord mais fort r\u00e9v\u00e9latrices \u00e0 y regarder de plus pr\u00e8s. \u00ab Citoyen tunisien r\u00e9sident \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9tranger, cherche faire connaissance, vue mariage, avec une tr\u00e8s belle fille tunisienne, \u00e2ge entre 18 et 30 ans, tr\u00e8s belle physiquement, sensuelle, f\u00e9minine, dynamique dans tous les sens, intelligente et chaleureuse. \u00c9crire \u00e0 la Presse Publicit\u00e9. Ag. Lafayette sous le n\u00b0 591. \u00bb Ces annonces a priori anodines, que l\u2019artiste photographie et expose telles quelles, \u00ab se r\u00e9v\u00e8lent riches\u00a0de sens, pr\u00e9cise la pr\u00e9sentation que fait La Bo\u00eete de Placebo. Elles nous r\u00e9v\u00e8lent en creux la complexit\u00e9 de notre soci\u00e9t\u00e9 et notamment la construction des relations de couple. Comment d\u00e9crire l\u2019homme ou la femme de sa vie en quelques mots ? Que cherche l\u2019homme ou la femme tunisienne
\nchez le sexe oppos\u00e9 ? \u00bb Photographe, dessinateur et peintre faisant fl\u00e8che de tout bois sans rien conc\u00e9der \u00e0 l\u2019illusion, inventeur aussi de personnages burlesques qui ne grandissent pas toujours le citoyen tunisien, Mohamed Ben Soltane ne craint pas l\u2019autocritique. Il assume d\u2019\u00eatre cet artiste du quotidien qui voit les choses de pr\u00e8s et non depuis les palais ou les officines id\u00e9ologiques. Le sublime comme le \u00ab grand art \u00bb \u00e0 message ronflant l\u2019int\u00e9ressent \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9vidence moins que humer l\u2019air du temps et fureter dans les arri\u00e8re-cours de la vie de tous les jours, celles o\u00f9 nous passons, humains, le plus clair de notre temps. Sommes-nous s\u00fbrs de ce que nous sommes ? Non. Sommes-nous s\u00fbrs que notre vie n\u2019est pas celle que nous voudrions ? Oui, et sans h\u00e9siter, r\u00e9pond l\u2019artiste.
\nL\u2019\u00e9chec ne doit pas \u00eatre ni\u00e9 ou d\u00e9ni\u00e9, il importe au contraire d\u2019en rendre compte, de l\u2019afficher, en cessant de se draper dans une illusion de grandeur qui ne rapporte rien.”<\/p>\n
