Text of Nic\u00e8ne Kossentini<\/p>\n

\u00abNic\u00e8ne Kossentini’s work questions the way we look at the world and the nature of human beings. The artist tracks down the uncertainty of the gaze against the habituation of vision and received ideas by putting what a subject might be out of focus. She raises the problem of the elusive marker of identity and reveals the fragility of human beings in the face of the imperium of custom\u00bb<\/p>\n

“Avec \u00ab They Abused Her By Saying \u00bb, une exposition qui fera date et \u00e0 laquelle La Bo\u00eete donnera un fort \u00e9cho, Kossentini met le Tunisien en face du statut de la femme tunisienne tel qu\u2019une jeune femme peut le ressentir et l\u2019exprimer (cette cr\u00e9ation date d\u2019avant la R\u00e9volution de la Dignit\u00e9, il est bon de le pr\u00e9ciser, les choses ayant beaucoup chang\u00e9 ensuite). Ce statut, autant le reconna\u00eetre, n\u2019est pas de nature \u00e0 faire r\u00eaver. En plusieurs photographies N & B, sur un mode pas loin de l\u2019\u00e9vanescence, l\u2019artiste nous pr\u00e9sente la vue d\u2019une jeune femme v\u00eatue d\u2019une robe blanche se heurtant de tout son corps aux parois que constituent ici les marges de la photographie. Corps prisonnier de
\nlui-m\u00eame, corps prisonnier du monde qui l\u2019entoure, prenant les airs\u00a0 cellule qu\u2019on ne peut ouvrir et dont les barreaux ont comme le pouvoir de contraindre, de domestiquer, d\u2019humilier, de bannir, corps qui s\u2019effondre sur le sol, \u00e9puis\u00e9, en manque de ressources. \u00catre une femme accomplie et libre, ma\u00eetresse ce son corps, de ses d\u00e9sirs \u2013 une perspective impossible en Tunisie ? \u00ab Au-del\u00e0 de la symbolique assez \u00e9vidente (mais courageuse sous la dictature), l\u2019effet de blancheur et de saturation aboutit \u00e0 une quasi disparition de l\u2019image, \u00e0 une quasi impossibilit\u00e9 de repr\u00e9senter o\u00f9 seuls quelques signes \u00e9mergent du n\u00e9ant \u00bb, peut-on lire sur le blog Lunettes Rouges chroniquant cette \u0153uvre.”<\/p>\n
