Founded in 2007, La Boîte is a research and experimentation laboratory for artists, providing support for the creation, production, distribution and mediation of their work. Artists create freely, without commercial constraints or censorship. La Boîte produces, exhibits and eventually buys, building up its own collection: over 200 works, now on display in the premises of the company that supports it.

La Boîte is active wherever people are – in their places of work or study. It works in companies (La Boîte-La Charguia), at universities – at the Chapelle Sainte-Monique of the IHEC Carthage-(La Boîte Hors-les-Murs) and in the regions: in Djerba in partnership with the Agora Djerba cultural space, and in Gabès where it works at the ISAM Gabès and the Musée des Arts et Traditions Populaires (La Boîte Hors-Tunis).
In 2021, La Boîte decided to extend its activities to the field of architecture. Exhibitions – thematic and monographic – meetings and workshops are on the program to promote Tunisia’s modern and contemporary heritage and reflect on the issues that have shaped its development.
